Add or modify syllables

The window contains fields to add or modify one or more syllables in the syllabication group. There are two fields: the field to enter or modify syllables and the field with position criteria.

When adding one or more syllables, the syllable entry field is easily editable. In this field, you can type one or more syllables, separating multiple syllables with a space.

When modifying one or more syllables, the entry field can be either simple editing or a list. This depends on the quantity of syllables to be modified.

In the case of simple editing, you can modify the text. In the case of a list, the syllables are contained in a list box. Each syllable in the box can be modified by clicking on it or pressing Enter, then modifying and confirming the change.

A syllable is composed of literal characters. Characters can have diacritics (accents) or not. Additionally, a syllable can also accept the apostrophe "'" symbol, as in syllables like "l'ac" or "I'm." Furthermore, syllabification of entire words or their parts can be enforced using the hyphen "-" symbol, explicitly writing the syllabication sequence, as in the words "pro-gram-ma" or "cde-sos-si-ri-bo-nu-clei-co"

The box with position criteria instructs the syllabication processor on which part of the word the entered syllable should be applied. There are five criteria:

- All positions: Activating this condition automatically deactivates all others. The entered syllable is valid anywhere in the word.

- At the beginning: The syllable is valid if it is at the beginning of the word. This condition can be combined with one or more other conditions (different from the first).

- In the middle: The syllable is valid if it is anywhere in the middle of the word. This condition can be combined with one or more other conditions (different from the first).

- At the end: The syllable is valid if it is at the end of the word. This condition can be combined with one or more other conditions (different from the first).

- Whole word: The syllable is valid if it constitutes an entire word. This condition can be combined with one or more other conditions (different from the first).

For example, if you enter the syllable "ba" and activate the "At the beginning" and "At the end" conditions, the "ba" syllable will be considered valid only if it is found at the beginning or end of a word. The conditions "At the beginning," "In the middle," "At the end," and "Whole word" can be combined with each other.
